Speights Ale House Fire Reinstatement Queenstown - Engaged as Quantity Surveyor for the Insurer
The fire destroyed the kitchen and caused extensive damage in the rest of the Historic Place Category 2 listed building. Originally constructed in 1881as the Former Lakes County Council Building, this historic landmark has evolved significantly over the years. In1950, it was converted into office spaces, and by 2000, it hod transformed into the Speights Ale House, a beloved social hub in Queenstown. For over 24 years, it has fostered community connections and celebrated the region's heritage, housing only a few businesses in its 143-year history. The project was distinguished by the collaboration of a diverse design team, comprising three architects who each played unique roles. Meticulous control of costs was crucial to ensuring the project was successfully completed within the original budget prepared by Ballantyne Quantity Surveyors.
